White Sangria
This sangria takes five to 10 minutes to assemble in a large pitcher. Take the time to prepare it in the morning so the sangria has several hours to develop its fruity flavor. Pull it out when dinner is ready to serve that evening.
2 oranges
1 apple
1 pear
2 lemon (large size or equivalent if small)
1 lime
1 750-ml bottle crisp white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio or try white Rioja Spanish wine or other dry white wine
7 - 10 tablespoons of sugar
Sparkling soda water, for topping off glasses of sangria at table
Peel one orange, slice it into circular discs, very lightly squeeze them and put at the base of sangria jar.
Chop pear and apple as finely as possible, spread on top of the oranges.
Add sugar. Squeeze the limes and lemons over the sugar (you can add one or two circular slices of lemon in the har as well).
Add the wine. Squeeze the other orange's juice and add it to the jar (if you want to make it more fruity then add one more orange's freshly squeezed juice).
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
Stir and serve with or without ice.
To serve, spoon fruits into glasses or goblets, adding a few fresh raspberries in each glass, pour wine over top of the fruit. Top glasses of sangria off with a splash of soda water and serve.
