Ingredients

1 cup all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon <a href="/recipes/node/645">cream of tartar</a>

1/4 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

1 cup grated springbank orange cheddar, 5 years or older

1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoon milk

 

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.

3. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Stir in cheddar cheese.

5. Add milk, stir until mixture forms soft dough.

6. Place on lightly floured surface, knead 8-10 times or until smooth.

7. Pat dough into 6 inch square.

8. Cut into 9 squares and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.

9. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
