Recipe Description

Thin asparagus always makes an elegant side dish. Sprinkled with a hint of red pepper flakes, the presentation is quite impressive. This dish is lovely served with a fish main course.

Ingredients

1 1/2 pound asparagus thin, trimmed and cut diagonally into 2 inch pieces

1 tablespoon canola oil

1 tablespoon ginger chopped fresh

1 tablespoon soy sauce light

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Preparation
  1. Bring 1/4 inch water to a boil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat.
  2. Add the asparagus and return to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
  4. Drain and cool briefly under cold running water.
  5. Wipe the skillet dry with a paper towel.
  6. Heat the canola oil in the same skillet over high heat.
  7. Add the asparagus, ginger, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes and cook for 2 minutes, or until heated through.
  8. Remove from the heat and stir in the sesame oil and sesame seeds.
